PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP)- A representative from the West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association talked at the Rotary club's meeting today.
The speaker talked about the future of the oil and gas industry.
One of the main topics addressed was storage facilities for natural gas.
Currently, there's a storage hub in Ohio called the Mountaineer NGL. The hope is to build a similar one in West Virginia.
Anne Blankenship, Ex. Dir. West Virginia Oil and Gas Assoc.“The concept would be to provide a storage hub for our natural gas liquids, which are used to create our plastics, throughout petrochemical industry. Right now, we don't have a way to store those constituents here in WV, or anywhere in the region. So it would make a whole lot of sense on an economical scale and for the opportunity to build both those industries by keeping those products right here in West Virginia.”
Experts say a hub is in the early planning stages in the mountain state.
