MARIETTA, Oh. (WTAP) - Electric car owners will soon have a place to charge up in downtown Marietta.
Marietta Main street president Sarah Arnold confirmed two charging stations will be installed in the rear of the armory.
Pickering Energy Solutions will be donating the pair of stations.
Arnold says the stations will attract tourists to local shops and restaurants while they are waiting for their car to recharge.
"When people are coming off of 77, which is real easy for Marietta, since we're exit one. They're looking for a place to charge their vehicle," Arnold said, "and if they can charge downtown, it's all the better because they're more likely to spend their dollars here when they choose to eat at a restaurant or do some shopping while they're charging."
"To fully charge their vehicle, it'll take four hours. So if they want to fully charge their vehicle while they're here, they'll be able to spend four hours downtown."
The stations are expected to be installed in time for the River Trails and Ales Festival in August.
