MARIETTA, Oh. (WTAP) - Popular travel site Expedia selects Marietta for its annual list of the most beautiful towns in America.
The list looks at places with gorgeous landscapes, bustling downtowns and plenty of things to do.
Most Marietta residents agree it's a sweet place to live.
"It's kind of the perfect blend of like a tourist area and a nice community place," resident and business owner Courtney Knoch said.
"I was here my entire life. I've never lived anywhere else," said Evon McKown, a Marietta native. "It's such a beautiful city and it's such a great place to raise a family."
"There's so much history and I think that Marietta really builds on what they have here.," business owner Lisa Bell said. "They really have this little treasure and they really do an excellent job at it."
Marietta was number 24 on a list of 30 towns.
Expedia's excerpt on Marietta reads:
"Zoom out of Marietta, and you’ll see a lovely town dotted with Victorian architecture, sitting along the river, but zoom in, and you’ll be inspired by the details. Uncover the pretty brick streets, covered bridges, wetlands, and art galleries galore."
Marietta business owners hope the recognition helps increase tourism in the city.
