JACKSON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - UPDATE 6/15/17 9:21 PM

Police say 46-year-old James Hill was killed in an early morning accident Thursday on Interstate 77.

Investigators say he wasn't wearing his seat belt.

His wife and seven children were in the van with him. Troopers say they have been treated and released from the hospital.

A Mineral Wells father has died, and his family was hospitalized after the van he was driving crashed on Interstate 77.

The accident happened Thursday morning just north of Ripley, near mile-marker 139.

West Virginia State Police say there was heavy rain in the area and the van carrying the man's wife and seven children hydroplaned, went into the median and rolled.

The family was from Mineral Wells and heading to a church function in Jackson County.

The wife and children were all taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers say the name of the father is not being released at this time.

The crash is under investigation by West Virginia State Police.
