Flood damage closes Wayne National Forest's Leith Run Recreation Area

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Oh.-(WTAP) Wayne National Forest says its Leith Run Recreation Area campground in Washington County is closed until further notice, due to flood damage.

Recent flooding of the Ohio River caused significant damage to the electrical and waste water systems in the Leith Run Recreation Area campground, located north of Newport, Ohio.

Wayne National Forest officials say those utility systems must be repaired before the recreation area can be reopened to the public.

Visitors who have made campsite reservations will be notified and issued a full refund through the National Recreation Reservation System at www.recreation.gov.

The public will be notified once the campground is reopened.

All other campgrounds across Wayne National Forest are open for the season.
