COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSAZ) - More than 2,000 people have been hospitalized with the flu in the state of Ohio.
According to data from the Ohio Department of Health, the last week of 2017 had 925 flu-associated hospitalizations. Nearly twice as many as the week before.
The 2017-18 flu season has seen 2,104 people be put in the hospital compared to just 369 people at the same time last year.
According to ODOH, the state has not reported any flu-associated pediatric death so far this flu season.
ODOH and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that everyone six months and older get a flu shot as soon as possible, as vaccination is the best protection against seasonable flu viruses.
