PARKERSBURG, W.Va.-(WTAP) In July, 2012, firefighters from throughout the area were also called to a fire at the IEI Plastics facility in South Parkersburg, the former Ames Company plant.
According to The News Center's report at the time, it took just a few hours to bring the fire under control, and there were no injuries.
When asked about the July, 2012 fire Tuesday, Lubeck Volunteer Fire Chief Mark Stewart said it was electrical in nature.
The Parkersburg Fire Department was one of the eight departments who responded.
Former City Fire Inspector Tim Flinn told us his recollection of the fire was that "the sprinkler system didn't work".
At a news conference Monday, a representative of the West Virginia Fire Marshal's office said that an inspection in 2008 found the plant at that time had a working sprinkler system.
But he could not say if that changed since then.
