PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - UPDATE: 6/15/2017, 11:51 A.M.

A former employee accused of stealing more than $4,300 from the Veterans Museum of the Mid-Ohio Valley had her felony embezzlement charge dismissed before being sentenced on a misdemeanor charge.

Angela Shoemaker, 33, of Parkersburg, pleaded guilty in Wood County Magistrate Court to a misdemeanor petit larceny charge on Tuesday.
She was given a six-month suspended sentence, two years probation and was ordered to pay $4,340.03 in restitution and $160.25 in court fees.

Shoemaker is accused of stealing the money from the Veterans Museum of the Mid-Ohio Valley, between June 2016 and February 2017.

The original criminal complaint filed by Wood County authorities says Shoemaker wrote and cashed 33 checks from the museum's account at different locations in Wood County. The complaint also says video surveillance captured Shoemaker passing the checks, which had her name printed on them.

Investigators say Shoemaker made comments supporting the allegations to a Parkersburg Police detective.
