PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP)- Road repairs on Garfield Avenue were expected to end tomorrow, but rainy weather appears to have pushed back the project's timetable.
The road work started back a month ago. Today, workers made big headway with the beginning of paving.
According to the West Virginia Division of Highways, it’s one of the final steps of the work. Next will be the painting process.
During that time, they say Garfield Avenue will still have various lane closures.
Michael Foley, Assistant District Engineer, explains “Paving today, it should be finished hopefully no later than Monday. Once it is done paving we’ve got those pavement markings. You’ve got the arrow, lines stuff like that, that goes on still. We could possibly do it in a day’s time, but hopefully the whole job will be done by the end of next week.”
The Division of Highways says its next project will be road work on 7th Street and nearby side streets in the near future.
