PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Facebook recently changed its algorithms, making content from local news sources, like TheNewsCenter, less visible in your News Feed.

To make sure you stay updated on the latest news, weather and sports events happening in the Mid-Ohio Valley, follow these quick and easy steps:

First, "Like" TheNewsCenter on Facebook by searching "WTAP Television" - or by clicking the "WTAP on Facebook" link under the "Related Links" section of this story - and clicking the "Like" button on our profile.

Underneath our cover photo, you'll see a couple of options, including one that says "Following." Click or tap on that menu to change your notification and priority settings for our page. Choose to "See First" so you never miss breaking news updates on what's happening in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

On that options menu, you also can choose to get notified every time our page posts or starts a Live Video.

On a desktop or laptop computer, click on the pencil icon next to "NOTIFICATIONS" to change your preferences.

On mobile, after you tap "Following," tap the option to "Edit Notification Settings."

Another quick and easy way to stay updated on all of the news, sports and weather in your community is to download the "TNC Now" app for Apple and Android devices - see the "TNC Now" download links under the "Related Links" section of this story.

Be sure to enable "Push Notifications" on the app to be notified of breaking news, weather alerts or school closings in your area.

You can also follow TheNewsCenter on Twitter, by clicking the "WTAP on Twitter" link under the "Related Links" section of this story.
