MARIETTA, Oh. (WTAP) - It may be National 7-Eleven Day in the rest of the country, but in Marietta, it was a different, special day.
Marietta Mayor Joe Matthews proclaimed July 11, 2018 "Mr. Bee Potato Chip Day" after the local snack company made a $2500 donation to the Marietta Aquatic Center. He made the announcement at the opening of the park Wednesday afternoon.
"It's a great place for everyone to come and it's a place where they can spend time without their iPhones or their iPads," Mister Bee owner Mary Ketelsen said. "It's an enrichment for children."
"We're going to use the money to buy some new umbrellas, some new chairs," said Susan Joyce, city office manager for Receration and Public Facilities. "We just wanted to thank them and give them a shout out for doing this for us."
Mister Bee workers stuck around the park after the ceremony to hand out free chips to families and kids.
