Nine wanted felons arrested in one day in Meigs County

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) - The Meigs County Sheriff's Office says officers from several agencies arrested nine people with felony warrants in Meigs County on Wednesday.

Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood says on Wednesday, officers with the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, Middleport Police Department and the Gallia-Meigs Major Crimes Task Force conducted a warrant and indictment round-up at several locations, resulting in the arrest of 9 people on arrest warrants issued out of the Meigs County Common Pleas Court.

The nine people arrested were Harley McDonald, Gerald Mohler, David Terman, Cynthia Klein, Matt Myers, Carl Smith Jr, Denise Hilt, Matthew Older, and Stephen Pierce.

All suspects were processed and arraigned before Judge I. Carson Crow, with the Meigs County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office also being present.

In a separate operation on Thursday, Meigs County Sheriff's deputies conducted multiple traffic stops related to drug activity in Meigs County.

During those traffic stops, deputies seized approximately ten grams of narcotics, including methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and marijuana, and arrested several people.

The Gallia-Meigs Major Crimes Task Force is a state task force under the jurisdiction the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission, which is part of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

The Gallia-Meigs Major Crimes Task Force was formed in September 2013 and consists of the Meigs and Gallia County Sheriff’s Offices, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Middleport Police Department, the Gallipolis Police Department and both the Meigs and Gallia County Prosecutor’s Offices.
