WOOD COUNTY, W.Va.-(WTAP) 7/14/2017 2:25 P.M.

A chemical leak was quickly contained Friday morning at Chemours Washington Works.

Chemours spokswoman Robin Stemple says it happened just after 9:30 A.M., in a storage tank pipe on the plant site.

The leak resulted in a release of anhydrous hydrogen chloride.

The company, in a news release, says the leak was contained by trained plant personnel, and there were no injuries or chemical exposures.

The affected equipment has been taken out of service, Stemple says, and will not be used again until an investigation is completed.
