MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - An Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper will teach a free Women's Self-Defense Class in Marietta on Wednesday evening.

The class, free for all women in the community ages 18 or older, will be held at the Dyson-Baudo Recreation Center on the campus of Marietta College on Wednesday, April 18, from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Participants must wear proper gym clothes and must sign-up for the class at the front desk of the DBRC.

The class will be taught by Trooper R.T. Petit, who has been a Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper for nearly 7 years, and has taught self-defense courses to law enforcement officers across Ohio for the last 3 years.

Trooper Petit grew up in Marietta and attended Marietta College and coached basketball there.

He says he wanted to give back to the Marietta community by offering this free self-defense class.
