Old Man Rivers gets food donations from Walmart

PARKERSBURG, W.Va.-(WTAP) The generosity of Walmart shoppers means a well-stocked Old Man Rivers Mission.

Managers of the Parkersburg and Vienna stores Monday brought two truckloads of non-perishable food items to the Pike Street mission.

Both stores recently held a two-day food drive for Old Man Rivers backpack program, and donations came in well above the mangers' expectations.

"I have to be honest with you, we didn't really expect this much from the community," says Parkersburg Manager Kevin Oshe. "So thanks again, we appreciate it."

"It makes us feel good," says Vienna Manager Rudy Anthony. "It makes our associates feel good, and it really brings a lot of pride into the community of what our shoppers and customers do."

The Parkersburg and Vienna Walmarts have had a working relationship with the mission and its food pantry for several years.

The managers set up this food drive after hearing the organization was in need of food items.
