UPDATE: Investigators release name of man killed in Parkersburg fire

Fire investigators have released the name of a man killed in an apartment fire in Parkersburg on Friday.

Parkersburg Fire Chief Jason Matthews says 47-year-old Darius McCumbers was found dead in the living room of his apartment at 1208 Camden Avenue on Friday.

Investigators say the fire started in the back room of McCumbers' apartment, and the unit did not have working smoke alarms.

The cause of McCumbers' death has been ruled accidental.

Three other apartments in the same building were not damaged by the fire.

Parkersburg Fire Chief Jason Matthews confirms one person has died in a fire that damaged the first floor of an apartment building on Camden Avenue on Friday.

The fire was called in at 5:11 p.m.. Friday at an apartment building at 1208 Camden Ave. It was quickly extinguished after firefighters arrived on the scene.

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal's office has been called in to investigate the fire. The deceased was the only occupant of the apartment.

A section of Camden Avenue was closed in front of the apartment but is open again.
