Woman dies in fire at Hemlock Court in Parkersburg

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - A woman was found dead after a fire at her apartment on Hemlock Court in Parkersburg early Saturday morning.

Parkersburg Fire Jason Chief Matthews says the fire was contained to the living room, which is where the woman's body was found. Two cats also died in the fire.

Residents of another apartment got out safely.

Mathews says he fire was accidental. An oxygen machine was found near evidence of smoking in the living room.

Firefighters got the call at 4:03 a.m. and were on the scene within minutes. The blaze put out in about ten minutes, and units left the scene at 9:30 a.m.
