PARKERSBURG, W.Va.-(WTAP) Since late 2017, Parkersburg's city administration has been working on the budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year.
Tuesday night, Mayor Tom Joyce plans to present that budget proposal to city council.
The mayor would release few details of the spending plan, saying he wants council to see it first.
But he did say it has few, if any, surprises.
"I think it aligns with a lot of what council has identified as priorities they have," the mayor said Friday, "and it certainly reflects the priorities I think are important to the city, particularly moving forward and building consistency with regards to our infrastructure and our parks."
As usual, Parkersburg City Council will hold public hearings on the budget plan, hearing budget requests from city department heads and, possibly, some outside agencies.
It will likely approve a final budget some time in March.
