Part of Ohio Route 7 near Newport to close for 2 weeks during landslide repair

NEWPORT, Ohio (WTAP) - UPDATE: 3/12/2018, 3/12/2018, 3:19 P.M.

State Route 7 will be closed for two weeks near Newport in Washington County for a landslide repair project.

The landslide is located between Reynolds Run Road and Davis Run Road.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes of SR 7 will be closed in this area beginning March 19, 2018.

While the road is closed, temporary pavement will be constructed to move traffic away from the landslide area.

One lane, two-way traffic will be maintained on the temporary pavement beginning Monday, April 2, 2018, and ODOT officials say the repair should be completed by June 1, 2018.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says a part of State Route 7 will be restricted to one lane due to a landslide.

NEWPORT, Ohio (WTAP)- The slide is just north of Township Road 559, also known as Reynolds Road, located In the Newport area.

There are temporary traffic signals in place to enable traffic through.

They have also included a 12-foot width restriction.

The estimated repair looks to be complete by June 1, 2018.
