MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP)- Local residents take a walk through history Saturday, and they didn't have to go far to do it.

They took the, "Patriots Addition Tour" of the Mound Cemetery.

Started in 1801, it has dozens of Marietta Founders buried there.

Of course the tour was given this weekend because of the area's local history, and America's birthday just two days away.

"Everything from General Rufus Putnam... There are said to be more Revolutionary War Officers buried in Mound Cemetery than any other cemetery in the United States. The flags behind me are memorial flags. They're not buried in the cemetery but they're buried somewhere within the original county, and they're all Revolutionary War soldiers that served in the revolution, but their graves are unknown today." said Scott Britton, Executive Director of the Castle Museum in Marietta.

The Mound Cemetery tours are held by the Castle Museum and they're five dollars to attend.

The next tour is one week from Saturday.
