AEP Power officials say power is now restored for all 4,400 customers in Belpre who were affected by Thursday's widespread power outage.

AEP says a construction accident that pulled down wires caused a power outage that lasted from 9:00 A.M. to around 5:00 P.M.

AEP Power officials say over 1,000 customers in Belpre will likely remain without power until 4:00 Thursday afternoon.

The power outage began shortly after 9 A.M. Thursday, and initially affected nearly 4,400 customers in Belpre, but most customers had power restored by 2:00 P.M. Thursday.

AEP Power officials say the outage in Belpre was caused by a construction accident that involved wires being pulled down.

There is no further information available about that accident.

Belpre Police say they have had no reports of any serious vehicle accidents in the city limits.

Police are advising drivers to use extra caution at stop lights. Officers have placed stop signs at several city intersections until the power can be restored.

Belpre Police say they were notified by AEP that power likely will not be restored until about 2 p.m.

AEP says the outage, which began shortly after 9 a.m., is the result of a construction accident that involved wires being pulled down.
