Prayer rally held for first responders

PARKERSBURG, W.Va (WTAP)- Every day, millions of first responders put themselves in harm's way to keep you safe. And Sunday, nearly two hundred people took to city park to pray for them.

The third annual Prayer Rally was held by one local veteran in City Park.

It ran from 1:30PM to 4PM and featured some special guests. One of them, Hershel 'Woody' Williams, a United States Marine and Medal of Honor recipient.

Organizers say the event is held to pray for the safety of our first responders and military personnel, and thank them for their service.

"I try to bring people to the recognition of all the wars and stuff, as to what sacrifice was made for our country. A lot of what our World War II people fought for and our freedoms, we're losing today. We just need to get god back in our country. That's basically what this is all about," said Jerry Smith, a veteran.

The event also honored our fallen war veterans.

You can expect the fourth annual Prayer Rally next year on July 9th.
