PARKERSBURG, W.Va. - A $1,000 reward is being offered to find out who vandalized Mountwood Park.
Park officials say this has been happening on and off for the last few weeks. In the most recent attack, the vandals caused a water break. In another instance, playground equipment was destroyed and signs were knocked over.
All of these have since been fixed. They also tore up some grass, which is still visible.
Mountwood Park is currently in the process of adding a new tenant, after Pressley Ridge left in January.
"When you spin up the grass or smash water pipes, that's one thing, but when you smash playgrounds, tear playgrounds up, that takes it to a whole nother level. That affects our kids. Parks are for the kids. When you tear up the playgrounds, they have nothing to play on, so yeah, that's a whole different level," said Jeremy Cross, Mountwood Park Director.
If you have any information about who might have caused the damage, call 304-588-0916.
