RITCHIE COUNTY, W.Va. (WTAP) - A Ritchie County Division of Natural Resources officer can now add another title to his name.

36-year old William Phillips has been named District 6 Officer of the Year.

He's worked in District Six in Ritchie County for the past five years.
But this is the first time he was nominated for the award.

Phillips says he appreciates being recognized for doing what he loves.

"I put a lot into my job. I like my job and enjoy it. It's one of those things that you get out there and try to do the best you can, and it's nice to be rewarded for that. I work with a good group of guys, we all deserve this, so I was just the one they chose this year and it's very rewarding to do that."

Phillips says he attributes his success to his friends and family, who help him every day.
