MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Marietta City Schools teachers are on the other side of the classroom this week, preparing for their students to come back to school.
Teachers and principals from Washington , Philips, Harmar and Putnam Elementary just finished up their second day of their three day training.
Over sixty grade teachers came prepared to learn with their highlighters, markers and glue sticks, just like their children would on their first day of school.
The teachers are learning new teaching skills from a trainer from The Write Tools for Common Core State Standards, a program to educate the teachers on informative and explanatory writing skills
This training is all about writing instruction and ways for the district to be able to get on the same page and teach the kids the same way through all four of their elementary schools.
The first day of school for Marietta City Schools is August 23rd.
