PARKERSBURG, W.Va.-(WTAP) The complex known for more than a century as St. Joseph's Hospital is slowly coming back to life.
The new St. Joseph's Landing opened in November at the site of the closed hospital.
Plans are under way to transform the 800,000 square foot location into a business and health complex.
Doctors offices still remain from the former hospital, and there's now an assisted living facility at the site.
A crafts fair was held there over the weekend.
"We can have auxiliary facilities and services within the building, that everyone can share in," says Jonathan Defibaugh, building manager. "We have food services coming back, probably in the next 30-60 days, so we'll have a cafe opening up. As that expands, we're going to try to get more and more in the building, and make it a really attractive place for everyone.">
Siltstone Resources purchased the hospital complex nearly a year ago.
Another craft show and other community events are in the planning stages for 2017.
