Symphony performs final concert of the season

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra Parkersburg performed its last concert for the 2015-2016 season.

Sunday afternoon, the orchestra played at Blennerhassett Elementary School. The maestro, Grant Cooper, has been with the symphony for 15 years. Next season will be his last.

Over 150 hopefuls applied for his position. Now, the field has been narrowed down to six finalists. During the new season, patrons will get a chance to meet these applicants and offer comments about them to the advisory committee.

"Next year will be an interesting discovery period and soon they'll be someone else who can bring their version to this job. Long live the WVSO is all I say," said Maestro and Artistic Director Grant Cooper of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra Parkersburg.
