MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP)- Laundry is one of the many house chores we have to deal with.
For some families it can be hard to fit this cost into their budget. That’s where this organization steps in.
The Laundry Project is in Marietta.
Its mission is to help families that struggle to afford laundry costs.
The 3 week old program has already helped 8 families.
The project will also help organizers apart of the Washington County Homeless Project determine specific communities needs and eventually start up a community resource center.
Stacey Steed, AmeriCorps VISTA representative, has been helping the program from the very beginning. She explains "The laundry program is a pilot program so that we can understand how a laundry initiative will really best serve the community. We help families in the county to hopefully impact their monthly budget with 8-10 free loads of laundry and we take them to local laundromats. So the hope is that we can obviously help with the monthly budget, but also there are health outcomes that are attached to that too."
If you're interested in helping out donations like detergent, fabric softener, and laundry bags are accepted.
