PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Wednesday the United Way Alliance of The Mid-Ohio Valley helped 253 students give back to their community through service.
Each student was assigned to a team, and each team was sent to different work sites to tackle a project for the day.
Walker Riddle, a Senior at South Parkersburg High School spoke of his role as a “Team Leader”.
“Community has done a lot for us, and a lot for me, so we thought it would be a good idea to clean it up a little bit, and make everything a little brighter.”
Student volunteers came from Parkersburg South, Parkersburg, and Williamstown High Schools, and helped 21 different non-profits in the area.
The United Way Alliance facilitated the event through area schools and non-profits, so students were able to give back to their community through meaningful volunteer work.
The day began around nine a.m., and ran through the afternoon.
