UPDATE: 01/11/2018 10:30 P.M.

Two men are facing several charges after police say the two led them on a car chase that started in Vienna and ended in Parkersburg.

A press release from the Vienna Police Department says it all started around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Officers there were dispatched to the Grand Central Mall parking lot to investigate reports of a stolen vehicle. Vienna Police located the vehicle, a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu, which were occupied by two men. After a traffic stop was initiated, police say the vehicle fled the parking lot and led them on a pursuit southbound on Grand Central Avenue.

The chase ended when the driver of the alleged stolen vehicle lost control in the area of the traffic circle on Ohio Avenue near Bob Evans in Parkersburg. When the chase crossed over into Parkersburg, that's when Parkersburg Police were called.

The press release says during the chase, a Vienna Police cruiser was not able to avoid the suspects' vehicle and struck the car. After the collision, the driver of the stolen vehicle continued to flee. Another collision occurred with a different Vienna Police cruiser.

Daniel Goldsmith, who works at Gran Ranchero on Ohio Avenue, described what he saw as the chase ended near the parking lot of the restaurant.

"I was taking the trash out and I see 3 cruisers chasing a vehicle backwards," he said.

"The vehicle is driving backwards. It stopped right here outside of the restaurant. One guy stayed in the car and the other guy took off running into the restaurant [Gran Ranchero] where he was detained right in the kitchen."

Vienna Police confirms Jason M. Bernard, the passenger in the stolen vehicle, fled on foot and ended up inside Gran Ranchero where he was apprehended. He was taken to Camden Clark Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. Once he's released, he will face misdemeanor charges.

The driver was identified as Derick Walker. He was apprehended from the driver's seat of the vehicle. He was taken to the same hospital where he refused treatment. He faces felony charges.

No officers were injured in the pursuit. Police records show the alleged stolen vehicle was reported stolen in Parkersburg on January 7, 2018. The vehicle was impounded.
