PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - UPDATE: 11/15/2017, 7:35 P.M.

A Parkersburg man accused of shooting another man in the face has been arraigned on updated charges and has a new court date.

On Wednesday, Eddie Gloeckner, 26, of Parkersburg, pleaded "not guilty" to attempted murder, malicious assault and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

He had previously been scheduled to go on trial on a lesser charge, but a Wood County Grand Jury recently returned a superceding indictment in the case.

Gloeckner's trial is now set for April 3, 2018.

Parkersburg Police say in October, 2016, Gloeckner shot David Taylor in the face.

He was treated at hospitals in Parkersburg and Morgantown.

Taylor later testified in Wood County Magistrate Court that he was in a car with Gloeckner after buying a cellphone from him, when Gloeckner shot him in the face.

UPDATE: 11/2/2017 5:50 P.M.

A Parkersburg man is now scheduled to stand trial on a malicious-assault charge in January after a judge rejected a plea agreement to a lesser charge that was reached in August.

Eddie Gloeckner, 26, was scheduled to be sentenced Thursday in Wood County Circuit Court on a charge of unlawful assault related to a shooting that injured another Parkersburg man in Oct. 2016.

Instead, Judge Robert Waters rejected the guilty plea Gloeckner entered in August and ordered him to stand trial on Jan. 30.

Wood County Prosecuting Attorney Pat Lefebure says the guilty plea was rejected because the victim, David Taylor, now wants the prosecution to proceed.

Lefebure says authorities had no contact with Taylor at the time Gloeckner's plea hearing in August.

Parkersburg Police say Taylor was shot in the face and treated at Camden Clark Medical Center before being transferred to a hospital in Morgantown.

He testified later in Wood County Magistrate Court that he was in a car with Gloeckner after buying a cellphone from him and that's when Gloeckner shot him in the face.

The man who allegedly shot another man in the face saw the inside of the courtroom for a second consecutive day.

Eddie Gloeckner's preliminary hearing was continued Tuesday.

The witness who's also the victim in this case gave his testimony in magistrate robin waters court.

He alleged that he bought a cellphone from Gloeckner.

After Gloeckner asked him to drive him home.

The witness said he asked the suspect to get out of the car shortly before reaching his home.

Gloeckner responded by shooting the victim in the face.

Gloeckner showed no remorse for his actions while hearing Taylor recount his version of the night.

Taylor stated, "I stopped right in the middle of the road. And then what happened? And then he put a gun to my head right below my right temple and pulled the trigger."

This is different from what we saw earlier this month.

Gloeckner was in tears at his arraignment hearing.

Ultimately Magistrate Waters determined there's sufficient evidence to continue the case and passed it along to circuit court.

UPDATE: 10/17/16 6:31 p.m.

Eddie Gloeckner appeared in court in front of Magistrate Robin Waters.

A witness in his case was issued a subpoena but never received it because of an address change.

Because of the delay, he did not make it to the hearing in time to make a statement.

The defense moved to dismiss the charges, and the prosecution reacted by attempting to use "hearsay" as evidence by using the witness' original statement to police.

Waters granted the continuance, so they'll head back to court Tuesday.

Tuesday morning a man was shot in the face and Thursday the alleged shooter was captured by Parkersburg police.

Tuesday morning police say 25-year-old Eddie Gloeckner allegedly shot David Taylor.

Taylor then drove himself to Camden Clark Medical Center for treatment.

Gloeckner who is now facing a felony charge was captured without incident and arraigned in magistrate's court Thursday afternoon.

He is facing charges for malicious wounding which holds a penalty of 2 to 10 years.

According to Chief Joe Martin, “Pursuant to his arrest we were able to locate a weapon that we believe was used in the commission of the shooting so he was booked in today after receiving a warrant for his arrest for malicious wounding.”

Gloeckner was located on 15th street when police apprehended him.

Magistrate Robin Waters set Gloeckner's bond at 300 thousand dollars, because she said this could have easily been a murder charge.
