Update: Former Meigs County deputy still a Coolville Police Department officer

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) - A former Meigs County deputy fired for "unbecoming behavior" is still an officer with the Coolville Police Department.

According to the Meig's County Prosecutor's Attorney's office, an investigation is ongoing, but no charges have been brought forth yet.


Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood reports that the deputy who was placed on Administrative Leave pending an investigation on Monday, March 6, 2017 has been terminated.

Sheriff Wood reports that on Friday, March 10, 2017, Deputy Leif Babb’s probationary employment with the sheriff’s office was terminated due to conduct unbecoming an officer.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office conducted a criminal investigation and that report has been forwarded to the Meigs County Prosecutor’s office for his review.

Sheriff Wood states that the integrity of his office is of the utmost importance to him, his office, and the citizens of Meigs County.
