UPDATE: Two people and dog escape house fire in Belpre

BELPRE, Ohio (WTAP)- UPDATE: 1/17/2018, 11:30 A.M.

Two people and their dog escaped safely from a house fire in Belpre on Wednesday morning.

Belpre Fire Chief Tony Cronin says the fire broke out around 5 Wednesday morning at a 2-story house on the 500-block of Middle Street.

He says two occupants and a dog got out safely.

Chief Cronin says the house is not a total loss, but two rooms in the house are.

No injuries are reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.


ORIGINAL STORY: 1/17/2018, 9:00 A.M.

According to Belpre Police Chief, Terry Williams, they received a call about a structure fire at 5:05a.m. Wednesday morning.

He says the two story home on Middle Street in Belpre had two people and a dog inside the home when the fire started.

They were all removed from the house safely.

As of Wednesday morning, authorities believe the fire started in the garage.

Authorities say they are still investigating the cause of the fire.
