PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - A local veterans organization honored those killed on a day President Franklin D. Roosevelt famously said will live in infamy.
The attack on Pearl Harbor happened December 7, 1941. VFW Post 1212 in Parkersburg held a special ceremony at its post to remember that day when thousands of Americans dead. Officials also laid wreaths at Point Park to honor the different branches of service and the local organizations that helped put on the event.
Lisa Small, the commander at the post, said, "We started a couple of years ago because there wasn't one locally that was being done and we feel that the community needs to get involved and remember what had happened and give us a chance to honor those who have fallen during this time."
Commanders at the post plan to recognize the anniversary every year.
