PARKERSBURG, W.Va.-(WTAP) Parkersburg police say a woman crashed into a fire hydrant when she lost control of her car.

It happened Monday morning just after 8:30, in front of the Pike Street Bowling Lanes.

Officers say Stephanie Williams was headed north on Route 14.

The bowling alley's parking lot flooded as a result of the hydrant being sheared off.

Parkersburg Fire Chief Jason Matthews says the city's utility board was called in to shut off the water, ending the flooding. The hydrant itself, however, was out of service.

Parkersburg Police say Williams was cited for failure to maintain control.

She was taken by ambulance to Camden Clark Medical Center to be checked out.
