VIENNA, W.VA. - The parents of a six-week-old baby are facing child-neglect charges after police say they left the child alone in their home.
Vienna Police arrested Brandon McPherson, 20, and Aline McPherson, 19, Monday evening after getting a call to check on a child at the residence on 23rd Street in Vienna.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Wood County Magistrate Court, officers went to the home about 7:45 p.m. They found the child alone in a crib without a blanket and only a few feet away from a window air conditioner that was set to 70 degrees and left running at maximum speed.
Officers located the parents a short time later near some railroad tracks behind the Foodland Store on Grand Central Avenue.
Police say the child was alone in the home for about 30 minutes before officers arrived. They have not said why the child was left alone.
Police say the child is now being cared for through the state child-services agency.
Bond for the McPhersons was set at $75,000 each. They are both in the North Central Regional Jail.
