WTAP’s Julie Dunphy went to Hamilton Middle School today to talk to eighth grade girls about career goals. She talked to a group of girls that are a part of a mentoring program sponsored by Altrusa called, GEMS.
The program aims to show young girls women that are successful professionals. Julie's presentation left many of the girls wanting to be our next TV reporter. To make that dream a reality one day Julie went over the importance of spelling and grammar skills as well as time management.
She talked about being in 8th grade herself, when she knew she wanted to be a journalist. "So then when I was going into high school after this I realized, I really like to tell other people stories” Julie explained to the girls. Tomorrow, Julie will speak again at Van Devender Middle School for the same program.
