WV Rep. Evan Jenkins visits Wood County

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - U.S. Senate candidate and current West Virginia Congressman Evan Jenkins stopped by Wood County Monday, to talk money.

One of his stops was an address to the annual conference of the State Regional Planning and Development Council.

He noted, while President Trump's proposed budget did not include funding to the Appalachian Regional Commission, there is funding in the omnibus budget bill, which was approved by Congress earlier in May.
Congressman Jenkins said:

"This budget was supported by the administration, so while the president's suggestion at the outset of the funding cuts, he quickly came around and heard our voices, and did support the increased funding."

The Appalachian Regional Commission funds economic programs in a 13-state region including West Virginia and southeastern Ohio.

The West Virginia Republican also took part in the National Police Week ceremony in Parkersburg.
