CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A WV. Senate bill seeks to raise the speed limit to 80 MPH on portions of interstates and some four-lane highways across the state.

Senate Bill 96 was introduced Wednesday by State Senators Robert Karnes and Mark Maynard.

The proposed bill would allow the state road commissioner to raise the speed limit on interstates and four-lane, limited access highways to 80 miles per hour.

According to the legislation, the increased speed limit would not apply to portions of interstates and four-lane limited access highways that pass through the city limits of municipalities.
