PARKERSBURG, WV (WTAP) - This week on WV Route 47 in Parkersburg, the West Virginia State Police will conduct a Sobriety Checkpoint.
The Parkersburg Detachment of the West Virginia State Police, in conjunction with the Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention, will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint from 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, Nov. 8 until 1:00 A.M. on Thursday, Nov. 9.
The checkpoint will be set up in Parkersburg on WV Route 47 (Staunton Turnpike) in front of the West Virginia State Police – Parkersburg Detachment.
The purpose of this checkpoint is to deter impaired drivers, as well as to educate the public about the dangers of driving an automobile while impaired by alcohol and/or drugs.
The West Virginia State Police urges motorists to assist the State Police in their efforts to stop Driving Under the Influence incidents by reporting impaired drivers to state or local law enforcement.
