MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - A wanted man from Athens County is arrested on multiple felony charges after police say he stole from 2 Belpre businesses.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office says on Saturday, deputies responded to a break-in at a commercial building, which houses National Carports and a separate accounting business, on Ayers Boulevard in Belpre.
Detectives found a MacBook laptop was stolen from National Carports, and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from the accounting business.
Names of possible suspects were given to detectives.
On Monday, at the Par Mar convenience store in Barlow Township, Detective McPeek, of the Washington County Sheriff's Office, saw one of the suspects, Wesley Orland Roberts, 25, of Amesville, Ohio, who had previously worked at National Carports.
Roberts was also wanted on 2 Failure to Appear warrants out of Belpre.
McPeek talked to Roberts and told him he was being placed under arrest for his warrants out of Belpre.
McPeek found a loaded Glock handgun hidden in Roberts' waistband, along with thousands of dollars in cash.
Roberts gave McPeek permission to search his vehicle, where McPeek found a MacBook laptop with the same serial number as the one reported stolen from National Carport.
After McPeek advised Roberts of his Miranda Rights, Roberts confessed to breaking into the building on Ayers Road in Belpre.
Roberts was arrested and charged with felony breaking and entering, carrying a concealed weapon, and felony theft.
Roberts was taken to the Washington County Jail where he will remain until his first appearance in Marietta Municipal Court.
