WASHINGTON COUNTY, (WTAP) - As Wood County schools remain closed due to the massive fire across the river, school officials in Washington County say the fire hasn't affected them the same.
Belpre City Schools Superintendent Tony Dunn says he's watching the weather very closely and consulting with different weather sources.
He says Monday was the worst of the smoke for their area, which is why officials decided to close for Tuesday.
Both Belpre and Marietta school officials say their offices have received calls from concerned parents about sending their children back to schools.
Marietta City Schools Superintendent Will Hampton says, “My response was that we consulted with the experts. I spoke with the Washington County Health Department, and I used them as a source for the information. They said there we’re no alerts or restrictions in place. So we defer to them.”
