MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP)- With our first hard freeze of the season last night, it's a good time for homeowners to winterize their homes.
Experts say winterizing your home save costs during the colder months.
Ways to prepare include window insulation kits, foam insulation for cracks, and insulation strips to under doors.
If you need to replace something, experts say now is a good time to do that before the cold really sets in.
John Brammer, paint manager at True Value, explains “Since we have decent weather, it would be a great time now to check your roof for leaks, check the window and if you have to do anything outside. It’s the perfect time to do it. It’s not been real cold, and you don’t want to wait till it gets snowy and rainy and worry; too late. So yes, now would be a great time to get everything insulated and prepared for winter.”
By keeping the cold out you keep the heat in which should help you with your energy bill.
