PARKERSBURG, WV (WTAP)-- Eight candidates are vying for seats on the Wood County Board of Education in this May's primary election.
The Wood County League of Women Voters hosted a public forum to meet those candidates Monday evening in the Parkersburg City Council Chambers.
There are three seats that will be open in the coming May election.
Though only four candidates could appear, more than five dozen citizens attended as participating audience members.
Topics included the recent teacher work stoppage in West Virginia, the value of Sports vs. Academics, Teacher certification and more.
"They're answering some great questions. I'm having a really tough time trying to decide whom i am going to vote for," admits Nancy Novak. " So I think that it's really critical for people to be here and to hear what they have to say. "
THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS IS A NONPARTISAN GROUP PROMOTING VOTERS RIGHTS, ENVIRONMENT ISSUES AND IMMIGRATION AND HEALTHCARE REFORM.
