WOOD COUNTY, W.Va. (WTAP) - Authorities have identified a Parkersburg man as the driver of a motorcycle killed in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday evening.
Ronald Dean Lee, 69, Parkersburg, died after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Route 31 and Route 50.
Wood County Sheriff Steve Stephens says that, according to witnesses, Lee was riding south on Route 31 when he failed to stop at the intersection and was hit by Range Rover driven by Andrea L. George, 53, of Charleston.
The crash happened about 6:45 p.m.
George, who was driving west on Route 50, was taken to Camden Clark Medical Center. Authorities have not released information about her condition.
Stephens says she swerved to miss the motorcycle but was unable to do so.
In addition to the Sheriff's Office, the Deerwalk Volunteer Fire Department, Camden Clark Ambulance Service, the Wood County Crash Team and the Wood County Coroner responded to the crash.
In addition, Stephens say an EMS crew from Ritchie County assisted after coming upon the accident shortly after it happened.
The Wood County crash team is investigating a fatal two-vehicle accident Tuesday night.
Authorities say the crash occurred at 6:45 P.M at the intersection of Route 50 and Route 31.
Both west bound lanes on Route 50 were closed for over 2 hours, as traffic was detoured north on Route 31.
The crash involved a black Range Rover and red Motorcycle.
According to the Wood County Sheriff's Office, the motorcyclist was dead upon their arrival.
Authorities will release the name of the victim once all family has been notified.
Camden Clark Hospital ambulance service, Wood County Corner, Parkersburg Police Dept., and the Deerwalk Volunteer Fire Department were all on scene and assisted with the investigation.
A reporter on scene confirms this is a fatal accident.
The Wood County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possibly-fatal motorcycle crash on Route 50.
According to the Wood County 911 Center, the crash happened just before 7:00 P.M., at the intersection of Route 50 and Route 31 (Deerwalk Highway).
The motorcycle is believed to be the only vehicle involved in the crash.
