PARKERSBURG, W.Va.-(WTAP) Two of the Wood County Sheriff's office's deputies are promoted, while it gains two new "four-legged" members.

Deputy Desiree Matheny was officially promoted to sergeant, while Sgt. Larry Kerns was promoted to lieutenant.

Sheriff Steve Stephens made both promotions official during a morning ceremony at the courthouse.

Matheny began working in confinement operations before becoming a deputy. Kerns has taught self-defense techniques to other members of the department.

The sheriff, meantime, introduced two new drug-searching dogs; one male and one female.

Both demonstrated their ability to track down and recover drugs during searches.
