PARKERSBURG, W Va.(WTAP)- Since it is summer, construction season is in full swing.
This also means a lot of workers are outside, spending hours under the sun. Many workers say it’s important to stay hydrated and take breaks in order to beat the summer heat.
The importance of keeping cool and staying hydrated are crucial when working in hazardous conditions… but to know when to get out of the heat is even more vital.
Construction worker, Brandon Straut, explains types of signs you need to take a break and cool down. “It’s hot and if you don’t stay hydrated you could pass out. Stop sweating, get dizzy or light headed you should seek shade before more circumstances happen.”
Other ways to protect yourself are sunscreen, wearing wide brim hats and light clothing, and take frequent breaks.
