ATHENS, Oh.-(WTAP) It's not just the food.
It isn't just the rides.
Going to a county fair-like the one in progress in Athens County-has a lot of attractions to it.
That includes a daily puppet show, for kids of all ages.
"There's a little bit of everything," says Sabrina Stadler, Fair Secretary. "Everyone has something to do here."
And it wouldn't be a county fair without a lot of agricultural events.
And that includes the Junior Fair Market Beef and Feeder Beef shows, in which young people showcase the cattle they have raised all summer.
While this is much the same as other county fairs in our area, they all have one thing in common not a lot of other events share these days. They're all geared toward family entertainment.
"A lot of the people who are involved in the fair are showing and displaying have been here for many years," Stadler says. "I grew up here in the fair, went away to college, came back and got on the fair board. I have cousins and family members-it's a family tradition."
The fair continues Thursday with a demolition derby, horse pulls on Friday, and a Truck-Tractor pull on the fair's last night on Saturday.
