Amos becomes Ironman champ as South competes in tough tournament

PARKERSBURG, W. Va. (WTAP)- Parkersburg South Sophomore 220-Pound Wrestler Braxton Amos won his weight class at the brutal Walsh Ironman, considered by many to be the toughest high school wrestling tournament in the country. Besides winning an upper weight class as a sophomore, Amos is also the first Ironman champion from Parkersburg South in 16 years! South’s 152-pounder Josh Humphreys finished 5th. South missed cracking the top 10 teams by 3.5 points and finished tied for 11th place.

Meanwhile, at the Barnesville Doan Ford Invitational, South had one champion in Tucker Windland (120), and two runners-up in Brayden Johnson (113) and Drew Dunbar (182). The Patriots finished fourth as a team at Barnesville.
