Binegar named Crusaders football coach

PARKERSBURG, W. Va. (WTAP)- There is a new face at the helm of the Parkersburg Catholic Crusaders on the gridiron and he is no stranger to the Mid-Ohio Valley.

Lance Binegar will lead the Crusaders in his first head coaching job, following the departure of Curt Shriver after a two-year stint.

Binegar is a 2004 Frontier High School graduate and played one season of football at West Liberty University.

Binegar has built a strong coaching resume, serving as an assistant in Tug Valley, Magnolia, Valley Wetzel and most recently Ritchie County, where he had a two-year tenure.

Binegar has racked up 11 years of experience, understands the proud tradition of Parkersburg Catholic football and will use all of that to his advantage.

"I have been on winning teams and I have coached losing teams. I have seen what works and what doesn't. I have seen how to reach the kids and see what shuts down a child," Binegar said.

"I know I've hopped around on my coaching career but with that, I have gained experience both good and bad. So just bear with me and we will bring Catholic to where they need to be."
